Chapel Hill Braces
Traditional braces continue to be one of the most trusted orthodontic treatments. This is because they are efficient. Overall treatment time can be slightly reduced because traditional braces sometimes work faster at closing gaps and aligning teeth that other options might. Traditional braces also don’t require some of the more complicated technology or expensive equipment that newer treatments can. Chapel Hill braces are also a cost-effective option for patients on a budget.
Chapel Hill braces are an excellent choice for correcting a number of simple and complex tooth issues. The components work together to apply gentle pressure, which through regular adjustments with our doctors, will gradually move the teeth into their desired positions. The components are metal or ceramic brackets attached to the teeth and connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics.
Chapel Hill Invisalign
The Chapel Hill Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually move the teeth into alignment, rather than brackets and bands. This option is currently the top alternative to traditional braces and is incredibly popular with both patients and orthodontists.
Made out of comfortable plastic, Invisalign aligners fit snugly over your teeth. The trays are virtually invisible and are usually switched out every 1-2 weeks for the next in the series to keep teeth moving in the right direction! If you don’t wear your aligners as intended, your treatment may take longer. Aligners must be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment in order for them to do their job.
Invisalign is not always the best option for complex oral problems. It’s ost effective when used to treat common orthodontic problems. A free consultation with Smith & Heymann Orthodontics will be able to help determine your eligibility for Invisalign.
